The East Mountain communities and parts of Torrance County received heavy rains this weekend after communities like Edgewood were still reeling from storm damage sustained from heavy storms on June 19.

Readers from the Tablezon neighborhood in the East Mountains reported heavy downpours.

Edgewood resident Mike Sanchez sent in photos of storm damage to his Edgewood home. 

According to Estancia Mayor Nathan Dial, the town did receive heavy rains but residents sustained very little damage besides fallen tree limbs on Main Street. Maintenance crews were sent to remove debris from roads Monday morning. The town fireworks display is still scheduled for July 4.

The Town of Mountainair held its fireworks display on June 30 successfully, despite warnings the storm was headed their way. Moriarty firefighters attended the event to help with fire protection. No brush fires were reported.

According to alerts from the National Weather Service, there is still a flash flood alert in effect for the East Mountain Communities and Torrance County until 3 a.m. Tuesday morning.
