Walkin N Circles Ranch, a nonprofit horse rescue in Edgewood, will be hosting a fundraising horse show this month.
The ranch has been working since 2002 to rehabilitate and find homes for abandoned and neglected horses.
The Halloween Fun Open Equine fundraiser show is set for 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 19 at the Stanley Cyclone Center, 22 W. Kinsell Ave., in Stanley.
Classes will include showmanship, horsemanship, trail, barrel racing, reining and more. High point prizes for each age division will be awarded.
A costume contest — for people and horses — will end the day. All equines are eligible to participate (horses, donkeys and mules).
Anyone interested in participating should visit wncr.org/events for a registration form and class list. Pre-registration is available for the all-day show for $65.
According to a press release, Walkin N Circles is dedicated to rescuing and caring for horses that have been abandoned, abused, or in some cases, destined for the slaughterhouse. The rescue is financed by donations, grants and the Walkin N Circles Ranch Thrift Store in Edgewood.
“Because of our committed care, primarily by more than 100 volunteers, the ranch has created miraculous transformations for some of these magnificent animals,” according to the release. “Our mission is to provide all rescued equines with new beginnings and productive lives with loving, adoptive families. We currently have more than 50 horses on the ranch with several more in foster care.”
