New Mexico State Parks is offering an opportunity to enjoy the state’s natural beauty and outdoor recreation with free day-use access to all 35 state parks on Black Friday.
According to a press release, visitors can take advantage of this offer Nov. 29 to explore New Mexico’s landscapes — from scenic lakes and mountains to deserts and canyons — without the usual day-use fee.
“We’re excited to invite New Mexicans and visitors alike to skip the crowds and experience the tranquility and beauty of our state parks on Black Friday,” said State Parks Director Toby Velasquez. “This day is about promoting wellness, connecting with nature and discovering the incredible outdoor experiences our parks have to offer. We hope people will take the opportunity to opt outside and enjoy some fresh air with family and friends.”
The free day-use access applies to all state parks, including Manzano Mountains State Park, which provides a quiet retreat and offers wildlife viewing, birding, and photography activities.
In addition to offering free access, New Mexico State Parks encourages visitors to plan for a safe and enjoyable experience by:
- Dressing in layers for variable weather conditions.
- Staying hydrated and bringing plenty of water, especially if hiking or engaging in outdoor activities.
- Checking specific park hours and availability online at emnrd.nm.gov/spd before heading out.
- Practicing Leave No Trace principles to protect the parks for future generations.
