Edgewood restaurant Chili Hills hosted a visit this week from America’s Best Restaurants, a national media and marketing company focused on bringing attention to local, independently-owned restaurants.
The America’s Best Restaurants Roadshow came to the restaurant Nov. 11. Popular dishes were highlighted, along with an extensive on-camera interview with owners Scott and Kandi Huxtable about the restaurant’s special place in the community. The episode will air on social media at a later date.
You can’t just buy a spot on the list of America’s Best Restaurants. You have to be nominated and visited by the crew.
“We look for independent restaurants that offer exemplary food, have involvement in the community, popular menu items, and good reviews from the public,” Best Restaurants Communications Specialist Suzanne Hale said. “Chili Hills stood out to us due to their mom-and-pop diner feel and acclaim they have achieved such as a nomination of being a top restaurant in New Mexico from the NM Restaurant Association.”
According to a press release from Best Restaurants, Chili Hills was first opened by Ralph Hill, incorporating his surname into the restaurant, and serving New Mexican specialties and breakfast all day in a colorful, mural-filled dining area. The Huxtables took over the restaurant in January 2023.
The menu offers an enormous selection of breakfast items, served all day: salads and soups, burgers, wraps and sandwiches, dinners, Friday night fish frys and the popular homemade pies — including rhubarb, pecan and apple.
According to their website, Chili Hills Edgewood has been named a top mom-and-pop restaurant in New Mexico.
There is a second location of Chili Hills in Moriarty.
