The Town of Edgewood is cleaning up after a storm with large hailstones and high winds which affected the town and surrounding areas.

Yesterday, residents in Edgewood experienced power outages and damage to many buildings, dwellings and fencing. Edgewood, located in the southwest part of Santa Fe County, is home to a community of 6,100 residents.

The Edgewood Police Department and Santa Fe County Fire Department are making sure the community is safe while they assist in the clean up. The Planning & Zoning Department along with the New Mexico Construction Industries Division are assisting residents with any structural issues such as damage to houses and buildings.

Town officials have been in contact with U.S. Rep. Melanie Stansbury asking for help and assistance for residents whose properties have been damaged by the storm.

Torrance County officials say they had areas also affected by the storm, such as Willard.

To report damages to your home or place of business, contact the Town of Edgewood administration at 505-286-4518 or in person at Town Hall 171-B NM 344, Edgewood or email the community liaison Linda Burke at LBurke@edgewood-nm.gov.
