Edgewood was named one of the best places to live in New Mexico by WorldAtlas’ list of the six best places to live in New Mexico for 2024.

WorldAtlas is a publishing resource in geography, sociology, demography, environment, economics, politics and travel. Bryan Dearsley, a lifestyle editor for WorldAtlas, said the Land of Enchantment has numerous great communities for those who enjoy cultural and outdoor activities.

According to Dearsely, for decades Edgewood has been a stop-over destination for those traveling the iconic Route 66 Highway, and whether one lives here or is just passing through, there are many activities and tourist attractions.

He listed the Moriarty Historical Society & Museum and the Edgewood Music & Arts Festival as popular visitor attractions that include local history and art exhibits, live music and craft vendors.

The Moriarty Historical Society & Museum is operated by the Moriarty Historical Society and includes collections of the living environments of people and structural and architectural evolution of the area or region, and effects of western expansion on the area and region. The Edgewood Music & Arts Festival is an annual event hosted by the Wildlife West Nature Park that has art exhibits and live music, including bluegrass.

“Those who enjoy an outdoorsy lifestyle are also well-catered to in Edgewood,” Dearsley said. “Highlights include hiking and biking in places like South Mountain and Cedar Grove, or visiting the Wildlife West Nature Park, a mix between a zoo and a sanctuary for native wildlife and plants in their natural environment.”

Included in the list of the six best places to live in New Mexico, are Silver City, Los Alamos, Ruidoso, Taos and Corrales. Dearsley said New Mexico is becoming increasingly popular to live in and these towns offer quality lifestyles for individuals and families.
